The John Lee Shirasaya Tanto is part of a long Japanese tradition. Shirasaya is a special sword mount without handle winding, guard and other decorative elements. An inscription, Sayagaki, often provided information about the blacksmith and the origin of the blade. With an overall length of 48 cm, this is a particularly long tanto.

- Blade clamp (Habaki) and washers (Seppa) are made of brass.
