The
John Lee Golden Autumn Katana impresses with its
simplicity and
elegance. It
brings us into the
here,
now, into
this moment and into the
beauty of the moment. The
handcrafted, noble and
unique ornaments (tsuba, menuki, fuchi, kashira) of this samurai sword simply represent
autumn scenes in the style of the Edo era (1603 - 1868) - the heyday of artistic samurai swords.
The blade was forged by hand in the elaborate
Kobuse style. A
12x folded, hard jacket steel made of
1095 carbon steel surrounds a core made of softer, low-carbon steel. The masterful work of the polisher clearly reveals the
damask structure (Hada) and hardness line (Hamon), underlined by a mirror polish on the back of the blade.
- Shinogi-zukuri-style blade without a fuller (Bo-Hi).
- Blade construction in the Kobuse style * with 12x folded steel casing (over 8,000 layers).
- Handle wrapped in black silk in the classic Hineri-Maki style, underlaid with traditional triangles made of paper (Hishigami).
- Black, high-gloss lacquered scabbard with integrated ray skin (Same Kuroro style), as well as buffalo horn finishes (Kojiri, Kurigata, Koiguchi).
- Blade clamp (Habaki) and washers (Seppa) are made of brass.
