Iaito Katana

We have decided to choose a few well-chosen katanas for you. We have had good experiences with the Iatio Katanas in our sword seminars with participants and can recommend them to you with a clear conscience. A blacksmith friend of mine has sharpened some of the katanas especially for us, so that you can use them well in Iaido - the art of sword drawing. You can find some of the samurai swords in the category: Katanas sharpened.

We recommend the following sword lengths as the maximum length. For many, one or two sizes smaller is optimal. Women, in particular, who carry the sword above the pelvis and thus higher than men, often get along better with two sizes smaller.

ATTENTION: The measurements are taken from the notch in the habaki on the back of the blade to the point of the sword and not from the tsuba to the point of the sword! The habaki sits at the transition from the blade to the tang between the blade and the tsuba. This size chart is based on the official recommendation of the German Iaido Association and is for informational purposes only.
