We have made a Bokken in the Iwama-Ryu Form of the very hard yet elastic Robinia wood. This bokken is used in Aikido, especially in the dojos that train the Iwama-Ryu style. It is only slightly curved and a little longer than a conventional bokken.
In America, this wood has been used for many centuries by native Americans to make bows and arrows. Even today, many articles are made from robinia that are supposed to be hard, elastic and break-resistant, such as axe or hammer handles, gymnastic equipment etc.
