Katori-Shinto-Ryu Bokken

Katori Shintō-ryū is one of the oldest Japanese martial arts. It was founded in the 15th century by Iizasa Chōisai Ienao. The Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū is now in its 20th generation under its current head, Soke Iizasa Shūri-no-Suke Yasusada.

There is a legend surrounding the founding of this school. The technique was revealed after a period of intensive practice at the Kator Shrine and was presented to the founder by the deity Futsunushi-no-Ōkami. The name of the school Tenshinshō-den means “correct and true tradition of heaven”.

The Katori Shintō-ryū was the origin of many Japanese martial arts schools and had an enormous influence on the development of martial arts. The founding family preserves and maintains the tradition for future generations.
We have beech, robinia, oak and wenge bokken for the Katori Shintō-ryū.
