Iwama-Ryu-Bokken

Iwama Ryu Aikido is the style of Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba, who taught in Iwama. He developed several techniques in Iwama, which are particularly associated with the Jo-Sab and sword techniques. The special feature of Takemusu Aikidō is that the stick and sword techniques are combined with the body in such a way as to create harmony. The aim is to show the attacker/opponent the futility of his attack without injuring him.

A special wooden bokken is used for Iwama-Ryu, which has a flat end rather than a point. We use different types of wood such as beech, oak, ash, wenge and ebony to make the Iwama-Ryu bokken. In my experience, the warrior forms a connection with the wood. This creates an inner harmony, which is then expressed in the application of Iwama Ryu Aikido.

Everything is in flow and in harmony.
