We have produced our Bokken made of Lignum Vitae in the Itto-Ryu-From the hardest and densest wood in the world. The Bokken has a notch for a tsuba.
The wood for each individual Lignum-Bokken was selected by hand - this resulted in wonderful "unique pieces".
Lignum Vitae is one of the hardest and heaviest woods (ironwood) in the world. The colour is yellowish-green with brown veins. It is especially valued for its resistance to moisture and is used, for example, in boat building.
