The cherry blossom, sakura, is one of the most important symbols of Japanese culture. It symbolises pure beauty, new beginnings and transience. The tsuba with the elaborately designed golden cherry blossoms forms the central element of the John Lee Golden Flower Katana. It is based on an original model that was probably made by a master of his trade in the 18th century. Although the name of the creator has not been passed down to us, his work lives on in this marvellous, hand-forged sword.
