Ten years after Petra Schmidt published the first edition of the book Ki-Karate. On the philosophy of ki, karate and martial arts has published, the practice method ki-karate has established itself as an integral part of the German karate scene. What has happened in the last decade? What connections are there to other methods and styles? How has this way of teaching karate evolved? What do karateka think about ki in karate today? What is the scientific status on «Ki»? These are the questions that the author and editor addresses in this book.
The result is a colorful mix of interviews with high-ranking karate experts in the four major styles, philosophical and autobiographical texts from a wide variety of karateka, as well as a detailed scientific article on “the paradox of Ki”.
This book offers both first reviews and experiences from ten years of Ki-Karate in Germany as well as an invitation to reflect, rethink and think differently. As before, Petra Schmidt's concern is to free the term Ki from the mysterious. She would like to make it more diverse and pragmatic.
"Your search for ki in karate will be intensified with this book. In doing so, she is aware: «Wisdom and humility are not compatible with haste. Art is for life." (Jordi J. Serra)
