An almost forgotten and rare Japanese long weapon is the Nagamaki. In our Bokken-Shop we offer you a unique Nagamaki made of beech wood. The peculiarity of this long weapon is that the blade is roughly the same length as the handle. It therefore resembles a mixture of katana and naginata. Beech is a strong, heavy and hard wood and one of the most important deciduous tree species in Central Europe.
The Nagamaki was particularly widespread from the 12th to the 14th century. The front ranks in a battle were armed with Nagamaki soldiers. Their job was to break through the ranks of the other side.
