Zaza is the Japanese word for bamboo. Due to its straight growth and fresh, green colour, it stands for growth and purity. In Japanese culture, it is also a symbol of good luck.
The
John Lee Zaza Iaito Katana thematises bamboo not only on its decorative rings (tsuba, fuchi, menuki, kashira), but also with small golden bamboo leaves on the sheath.
