The ebony bokken in the Itto-Ryu shape with a Bo-Hi / Hi groove. The bokken has a heel for a tsuba and is traditionally handcrafted. Ebony, also known as ironwood or kamagong, varies in its grain and color depending on the tree used. We also have a matching tsuba for your ebony bokken. You can find a beautiful tsuba made of buffalo leather including a dome under Bokken accessories in our shop.
Many blades of samurai swords are sent with a fuller (hi). In order to adapt the bokken more realistically to a katana, the bokken is often provided with a hi-groove.
Popularly, this groove is also known as the blood groove. First and foremost, this fillet serves to reduce the weight of the blade and thus helps to improve the balance of the katana.
