Our chestnut wood Bokken in the standard form is a particularly fine bokken for your martial arts. Exceptional in color and grain. The wood of the sweet chestnut is quite dense and hard and has good elasticity. Chestnut wood, as we use it, is often used to build barrels, poles in interior work, for turning and carving work and in hydraulic engineering
In medicine, sweet chestnuts are considered trees with healing powers that give comfort, encourage and support transformative processes. They store a lot of solar energy and are therefore ideal power trees for weak people. Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179 AD) also recommends the consumption of chestnuts for many ailments. Sweet chestnuts were seen in China as the home of the earth gods of the West. In Christian symbolism they stand for goodness and chastity and in Celtic mythology the chestnut stands for people who are the cornerstones of the community.
