This book deals with the terminology of the martial art Taekwondo as it is used in training, basic school and duel. The urgent need to clarify the terminology arose from a lack of relevant literature on the subject. The transcriptions of the Korean names are used differently in different books, the composition of the terms and their actual meaning always remains unclear. However, the Korean terms are quite logically structured and composed of several individual linguistic parts. The better the practitioner can understand this system, the faster the learning effect will be.
Besides the linguistic basics of Korean, general basic terms, anatomy, basic stances, hand and foot techniques, special techniques from the forms as well as commands from the fighting and form area are taken into account.
A basic book for all who really want to understand what they learn in training and how the thought system of Taekwondo is structured, and an enrichment for every Budo library. The author Dr. phil. Dr. rer. medic. Andrea-Mercedes Riegel, 7th Dan Taekwondo, holds a PhD in Sinology and theoretical medicine and has been practicing Taekwondo in the WTF since 1980.
