This book contains the fictional but realistic writings of the samurai Yamamoto Magune (1575–1644), in which he documents his position in the tension between martial tradition and spiritual change. In addition to the samurai sentiment and the ethics of Confucianism, they also reflect the philosophy of Zen and the influence of occidental teachings. The foundation of his thought structure is his symbol of the "blossom of life", a model in which he tries to define life in its entirety and which can be a profound guide to the reader even today.
In "Shi Shin" the author draws the profile of a learned samurai and provides interesting and informative information about the historical and social background of the sword nobility of that time. «Shi Shin» offers numerous inspirations for a revitalization of basic ethical values and will not only reach readers interested in the East, but everyone who is anxious to set new impulses in their lives.
