By popular demand, Tatami-Omote-Mats for your cutting tests (Japanese Tameshigiri) have been added to our Bokken-Shop. Our tatami mats are made from rice straw. Based on the feedback we have received, we can highly recommend these Tatami-Omote-Mats. To prepare for your cutting exercises, put the tatami mats in water the day before and dry them for about half a day. By soaking and drying, the tatami mats achieve the necessary resistance for your cut.
We offer you the option of ordering a single tatami mat or several tatami omote mats. You would like to order a larger quantity over 100 pieces - please contact us. We would be happy to make you a separate offer.
Please note: For your cutting tests you should have a long experience in handling sharp-edged katanas / samurai swords. Not every katana is suitable for cutting tests. For a cutting test, we recommend a differentially hardened blade with a hardness of approx. 60 degrees Rockwell.
