We are happy to offer you one of the highest quality Japanese Bokken made from SUNUKE WOOD in the Itto-Ryu shape. The bokken is hard and resilient and very well suited for contact work / contact exercises. The bokken we offer is from Tozando's workshop and was made in Kyushu (Japan).
Sunuke is a very old wood (250–300 years old ISU No KI) that is extracted from the inner core of Isu wood. The specialty is that only Isu heartwood which has been dry for over 200 years is used for the production of these special bokken. In Japan, the Sunuke-Bokken is highly valued among many high-ranking sensei from the various martial arts. Sunuke is a very mystical wood and is considered a good omen in many parts of Japan and the Kyushu Islands - Furochoju No Ki - which means "eternal youth and longevity tree". It is becoming increasingly difficult to find sunuke wood that is suitable for making bokken.
