An almost forgotten and rare Japanese long weapon is the Nagamaki. In our Bokken-Shop we offer you a unique Nagamaki made of ebony. The peculiarity of this long weapon is that the blade is roughly the same length as the handle. It therefore resembles a mixture of katana and naginata. Today we still find the Nagamaki occasionally in different martial arts such as Jigen Ryu, Toda-Ryu and some Bujinkan schools.
The Nagamaki was particularly widespread from the 12th to the 14th century. The front ranks in a battle were armed with Nagamaki soldiers. Their job was to break through the ranks of the other side.
