I am very pleased to be able to offer you a limited and high-quality set from my Dai Shihan Jürgen Bieber in the Bokken Shop.
Book: Shoto, Kodachi and Wakizashi (hardcover) - the art of the Japanese short sword with a small dedication and hand-signed & a matching Shoto made of ebony with dragon carving on the handle.
The dedication consists of 2 small words with a deeper meaning: ‘Juppō Sesshō’ 十方折衝.
Juppō = Ten directions (the eight cardinal points plus up and down, symbolising all directions).
Sesshō = Negotiating, defending, equalising or moving in space to exert influence or create a balance.
Acting in and from all directions to control the opponent and space or to influence the balance of the situation. Hatsumi Soke also often emphasised the invisible, intuitive reaction to threats in Juppō Sesshō. It is more than pure technique, but an expression of high mastery, where the consciousness goes beyond physical combat.
