The
Citadel Yushu Katana rightly bears the name Yushu (dt. "Perfection"). The many elaborate details make it a
top-class work of art. Handle end (Kashira) and handle clamp (Fuchi) are made of iron, coated with a simple but elegant, black high-gloss lacquer. The
tsuba, which is not cast, but made by hand, is also made of iron. It shows a
Japanese temple with cherry blossoms (Sakura no Hana) in the foreground. Decorations (Menuki) made of silver-plated bronze offer a nice contrast to the dark wrapping of the handle (Tsuka-Maki) and underline the graceful overall picture.
- Shinogi-zukuri-style blade with fuller (Bo-Hi).
- Forged habaki made of silver-plated, engraved copper, adapted to the groove.
- Silver-plated brass seppa.
- Handle wrapped in black Japanese silk in Katate Maki style (war wrapping).
- Black, high-gloss lacquered scabbard with integrated stingray skin (Same Kuroro style).
The razor-sharp blades are made from
1075 carbon steel. These are hardened differently to approx. 60 HRC on the cutting edge and approx. 40 HRC on the back of the blade under traditional clay. The masterful work of the blacksmith comes into its own through the skills of the foreman. A mirror-polished surface and a clearly recognizable hardness line (Hamon) are the result.
Each sword has a production certificate, a high-quality sword cover and a padded Cordura bag for transport.
Please note: The Citadel Yushu Katana is sharpened and suitable for cutting tests (Tameshigiri)!
Availability: The Citadel Yushu Katan is expected to be back in stock at the end of January 2022.
